Enneagram type: A key to improving your relationship

What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a system of personality typing that assigns individuals to one of nine distinct types, each with its own unique characteristics and tendencies.

Understanding your Enneagram type can provide valuable insight into your own behavior, as well as that of your partner. By understanding how your Enneagram type may be influencing the dynamics of your relationship, you can begin to identify patterns of behavior that may be causing problems and take steps to address them.

How can Enneagram help improve your relationship?

One of the most significant benefits of learning about your Enneagram types is that it can help you and your partner understand and accept each other's unique perspective. When you understand that your partner's behavior is not a personal attack, but rather a reflection of their Enneagram type, it can be easier to forgive and move forward.

For example, if you are a Type 1 Moral Perfectionist and your partner is a Type 7 Optimistic Enthusiast, you may find that their carefree attitude and lack of structure drives you crazy. However, when you understand that this is a fundamental aspect of the Enthusiast's personality, it becomes easier to accept and even appreciate this trait in your partner. Also you can learn that as a type one you grow into their traits and can lean into that spontaneity to begin to grow.

Another way that Enneagram can help improve your relationship is by identifying areas where you and your partner may have different needs. For example, if you are a Type 9 Peaceful Mediator and your partner is a Type 8 Protective Challenger, you may find that you need more time and space to process your feelings, while your partner needs to be able to express their opinions freely. By understanding these differences, you can work together to create a relationship that meets both of your needs.

Overall-Learning about your Enneagram types can be a powerful tool for improving your relationship or marriage. By understanding your own personality type, as well as that of your partner, you can gain valuable insight into the dynamics of your relationship and take steps to address any issues that may be causing problems. If you and your partner are struggling with your relationship, taking the time to understand your Enneagram types can be a valuable step in the right direction.
